Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, a young and clumsy prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia, where he lives in the shadow of King Peleus and his godlike son, Achilles. Achilles, the greatest of the Greeks, is everything Patroclus is not: strong, handsome, and the son of a goddess. One day, Achilles takes the pitiful prince under his wing, and this temporary bond blossoms into a deep friendship as they both become skilled young men in the arts of war.
But fate is never far from Achilles' heels. When news spreads of the abduction of Helen of Sparta, the men of Greece are summoned to besiege the city of Troy. Achilles, seduced by the promise of a glorious destiny, joins the cause, and Patroclus, torn between love and fear for his companion, follows him to war. Little could they imagine that the years to come would test everything they had learned and everything they held dear.
